New York City Vernazza Siena Venice Siena was crowded with tourists, but the medieval charm of the city always came through.
Every weekend, the nine separate "Contrada's" (competitive city sections) practice their pageantry for the Palio, a serious horse race between the Contrada's that takes place in this city square, the "Il Campo", each summer.
We drove a day-trip out of Siena through the Tuscan countryside. This is just one of the many hill towns we saw on the way...
